New day, new possibilities

30-Apr-09

I am not going to rant that it has been a while since I last posted here, (oh, but I am doing that now…).

I seem to forget that I have a blog. I have some crafty projects that are done, but havent been able to take the pictures just yet, will nag Johnny to do so when he comes home. As for my life, I (and Johnny) have moved to a new apartment just before easter, 2nd of April. When we said yes to it, and got here to view again and got the keys and such, I regretted getting this apartment… It was ugly, cold and needed fixing… On the plus side, the apartment has a wood stove, a storage room in the hallway (behind a little door). And a big basement for storage, it also has a medium sized freezer down there.

But now… It is cute and cool. We painted almost every surface of the apartment. The first hallway was in this strange wood panel, now white. The second hallway was dark blue, now white after three (!) coats of paint. The living room was a mix of whitish and pastel purple… It is also white :) The kitchen was peachy colored or more like prison color… But that too is white. The bedroom was unpainted, dark wood panel. And after three coats of paint that too is white. I love white walls :) The bathroom is pastel blue and will stay that way, the toilet was white so there was no need for painting in there. Yes, we have a strange toilet, it is just a toilet in there, no sink, no washing whatsoever.

Also, we have removed three (!) doors in the apartment that just were not necessary. We bought a new fridge (with a small freezer). Got some new lamps and tables. I finally got a tall bar table, in my kitchen :)

The apartments standards has risen quite a lot since Johnny and I moved in here. Unfortunately… We are going to move in the fall. Turns out, where Johnny work, has had some changes, and it is no longer necessary for a registry for domains in Norway any longer (the company is really swedish). But, Johnny got a good job offer in Stockholm, Sweden. He will become a team leader for two teams :)

So, we put a lot of work into an apartment that we will only be staying in for four months :( Oh well, I really look forward moving to Stockholm. I will take a break in my studies, read upon a couple of subjects that I failed. Johnny´s job has offered to help us find an apartment in Stockholm and find a job to me :)

In the previous weekend, my sisters and dog came over for sleepover. It was nice, we made yummy dinners and had a good time. On saturday we went on a small shopping, more like they bought stuff I am quite poor right now. Then my oldest baby sister went on the train back home to her so her boyfriend who had been gone for ten days. My youngest sister Sunniva and I went back to the apartment and got out the dog, Kira, and went for a long walk down to the fjord. Kira took a bath while Sunniva and I had some ice cream :)

After that we went home and painted some. I made a cute, pink, heart painting. It turned out nice :) Sunniva painted some buttons and needle felted a penguin, with some of my help. Later we made dinner with Johnny and watched X-men :) On sunday, Johnny and I went for a walk with Kira while Sunniva showered and when we got back we showered while Sunniva made breakfast for all of us. After that Sunniva and I started making candles. Striped candles. They turned out awesome ! Pictures will come later.

Then my mom came here, and stayed for dinner and took Sunniva and Kira with her home.

This week has not been that eventful. Except for yesterday, then we had dinner guests. We made indian and it was good.

Today I will try to get more school stuff done…

Tomorrow we leave for Skien/Porsgrunn for Johnny´s baby sisters confirmation (? When you are 14-15 in Norway there is this ritual to show that you are now an “adult”…).

Crafting plans :)

13-Mar-09

I have recently become a member at Ravelry and do they have a lot of patterns I want to try ! I was directed to that site from someone on Crafster. That too is a wonderful place to hang out. Right now I am doing my first swap, that is when I make something crafty and another person does so as well and then we exchange what we made. The theme is Magic ball. This is a yarn ball full of goodies. I am very excited about this project and I have not done so before so I hope it turns out well.

Since my last blog about something crafty (which was several months ago, it kind of gets on and off this blogging thing) I have made several things. I will post pictures and such soon (or at least eventually). But to mention a few things, two good dresses, a skirt, hand warmers, mittens, laptop case for my boyfriend (with pacman :) and then I have been scrapping. I have really gotten into this scrapping now, what I have made now looks a lot better than previously. I am still new to scrapping, so improvements will always be there.

As for my life, my boyfriend and I are moving soon, do not know where yet, but we have put an ad in the news paper and hoping for reply this weekend. Yesterday we went on something we call “Harry tur” in Norwegian. It is basically a trip to Sweden where we buy cheap beer (although good beer, it is just that beer cost almost half in Sweden than what is costs in Norway), chicken and candy. We had about 11 liters of beer with us home :) (There are restrictions on how much you are allowed to have with you… 5 liters is the limit per person) And we bought one of my favorite chocolatesPolly

But now I am going scrapping :)

Just a thought about german

06-Feb-09

It has been ages since I have been writing here, mainly because I have been lazy and not so focused on computers and such in the fall and now winter. I have started a new course at the University in Trondheim. I am now on the “European Studies and German” study. Only had my first semester, but so far so good. The study is about what is says, the European Union and its connections. And then it is the german part. Not particularly fond of german yet, but it gets better the better I learn it. Right now I am situated in Kiel, Germany on a month long course in “German and Germany today”. It is a bit boring from time to time, but I can feel that my german is improving slightly. At least I have learned a lot of new words.

It is a bit strange and lonesome to be here without Johnny. I miss him greatly. I have my own little room here in Kiel, with a small bed and it feels very empty not to have anyone to share this room with. But I will manage. I have been in Kiel since the 5th of January. I really like Johnny, he actually took four days off work just to come and see me last week. We met up in Berlin late late at night on wednesday. Then we stayed there until monday when he had to go back to Trondheim. It was a wonderful weekend, and I really enjoy spending my time with him. We were tourist for a bit, but mostly we were girlfriend and boyfriend. However, the meeting on wednesday was my four worst hours in my entire life I think. I arrived at Haupbahnhof (that is the main train station) in Berlin at 20.29. And he arrived at Funkturm (that is the main bus station) in Berlin at 20.10. Johnny were then supposed to meet me at Haupbahnhof when I arrived… But he did not. And my cell phone stopped having signal/service. And I called him with two other phones, but apparently his cell phone were having the same problems (we do use the same service provider). So there I was at 20.30 at a very big train station, alone, without any means of contacting Johnny… I was so worried and sick and angry for not him being there, and sad for the same reason. I talked to some of the station workers, and they said that going from Funkturm to Haupbahnhof took at least 45 minutes, Having said that I was a bit relieved, because that meant he would be here soon. So I waited and waited, for two hours… I had him called up on the calling three times over all of Haupbahnhof. Then I got the wise idea that I could call our service provider. I also found the number to the guy we were going to rent an apartment from at the same time. I then borrowed a phone from Service Point. By some reason I said I could call the german number first, so I came to the landlord. And Johnny was with him !!! At Funkturm !!! I cried, and yelled a little wondering why the hell he was there and not here. Eventually I got to say that he should come here right away and that I would meet him at track number 15 (because that is where he should end up at if he take the right trains). He said he would get here as soon as possible. I was very relieved and felt a bit more relaxed. I went and bought some chocolate, chips and Apfelschorle (it is apple juice mixed with sparkling water), and then some Cappuccino with chocolate. And sat on track 15 and waited for 50 minutes… No sign of Johnny yet, but I could not leave that place because I did not know when Johnny would be there. I was so worried… And cold (because the tracks are outside after all, with a roof though). But then, at 00.30 he was there. I had waited for four hours, worried sick and all. My first reaction was to hit him in the chest then hug him… We stood hugging for a while, while he excused himself and was sorry. It turned out he had not understood the whole U-bahn vs S.bahn, where you sometimes have to get up and across the street to change between an U-bahn stop to a S-bahn stop. But in the end everything worked out fine. The rest of the week was really nice and I really disliked it when Johnny had to leave me again.

A laptop case for my soon-to-be mac :)

11-Jul-08

In about Easter I started on a little bigger project of mine, so far I have only made small and easy things. I am going to buy a macbook, so then I need a cover for it so I can bring to my classes without it getting scratched. I found this awesome receipie. I followed those instructions. Apparently my stitches i a bit long so, I did not need to knit as many after the pattern, as you might see on my pictures.

I like purple, so my felted laptop case is mainly in purple with semi white apples. It is knitted on very big needles… Pictures below :)

It is lined with ordinary cotton fabrick, and a long zipper (no need for fancy zipper with exact measurements, as it was very hard finding a 92 cm long zipper, I bough a meter from a big roll of zipper band). It was a bit hard to sew on the fabrick and the zipper at the top of my case, because the felted bit was very thick there…

But overall I am pretty happy with this one. Of course it look homemade with some mistakes here and there, but it suits my needs and look ok :)

Bad milk = free stuff

11-Jul-08

A couple of weeks ago I was going to eat my breakfast consisting of some form of breakfast cereal, I got the cereal in the bowl, took out the milk from the fridge, and the milk came out like some kind og chunky, gooey stuff… It did not smell bad, it was still five days until it were supposed to expire, so I thought I should give the makers of the milk a little note, Q-milk. I sent an e-mail about what was wrong with the milk, and at the same time explaining that I was happy for that spesific brand because it gives some competition to Norways largest milk companyTine.

A while later I got a note in my mail saying there was a package to pick up from this company. Happily I went to the post office and picked it up. This is what I receieved.
The box
Containing
on the table

So I actually got five tubes of various cheese, a box of cheese and some crispbread or rye crisp.
yay to free stuff, and I love the Kavli company who sent me this :D
