Unlike last time, I decided to decorate them. After all of the candles were completely done, I did some decoration. Some candles I just simply dipped in a different or same color, half way or all the way. The candles with the dots were done with a toothpick dipped in wax and then applied to the candle. The vertical striped candles were painted with wax. The horizontal stripes/splats were done by having a spoonful of wax and then gently dripping it on the candle while turning the candles to the side. And thats that :)

On tuesday, 8th of December, Johnny and I went to a small and intimate concert by Geoff Berner and more.
I meet Johnny after work in Gamla Stan, and we went for something easy to eat. And went looking for the place the concert were supposed to be, The Cove, Stockholm. It was hard to find, but worth it! This was the third time Johnny and I went to a concert with Geoff Berner.

We arrived quite early, the band members of the other band playing, were still practicing a little. But we still sat down and ordered a Kilkenny each. We got to talk to Geoff, which was awesome. He is little guy with a fun appearance.

More people showed eventually up, and we took a seating in a comfy sofa. A while later, The Magnificent Seven started playing. They were great! Playing on accordion, violin, saw, melodica and a cello, and a nice vocal. We chatted a bit with Geoff, he sat next to us during the performance from The Magnificent Seven. The Magnificent Seven will release an album during spring of 2010, and I plan on buying it.

Then it was time. In this tour, Geoff had with him Wayne Adams and Diona Davies. Wayne played the drum and the occasional cymbal. Diona played violin, she was great. And Geoff had of course his accordion. The whole performance was great :)

Geoff Berner is an awesome live performer. He gathers the whole audience and make them sing along and buy him whiskey. For after all, he is the whiskey rabbi. There were many great songs, some sad, some happy and some which made you want to dance like a crazy little monkey.

The concert at The Cove, was the last place to play on the “Drunk and Dancing Europe Tour”. I will look forward to the next time he plays somewhere near me, and I will be sure to be going there!

I recently bought myself a sewing machine, and among the things that is necessary for sewing, is the needle pillow. A friend of mine, Hanna, said she had the idea of a needle pillow on top of a lid, and then you can store other sewing supplies in the glass. I thought this was a cool idea, that way I could hold all my needles/safety-pins in place. I had a tiny jar, that had once held honey from Germany, but now it was empty and screaming to be put in use.

First you take a circle of fabric, the diameter of the circle measuring about four times the diameter of lid. My lid is 4 cm across, therefore my circle is 16 cm across the diameter.

Then you stitch long stiches along the edge of the fabric, double stranded!

Then pull the threads carefully. While the opening is still a bit big, stuff it with filling. I used some filling from a cheap pillow I once bought for this purpose.

Pull the threads shut. Tie a knot. Should look something like this:

Glue the ball stuck to the lid with hot glue/glue gun.

Then glue (hot glue) a ribbon on the bottom, covering up the rim of the lid, as well as a bit on the fabric ball, making it look smoother.

And you are done, and can enjoy your handy little work :]

Unlike last year, this year I have a lot of time on my hand to make christmas appear to be a childhood dream. This year it is time to make christmas candy, ornaments, cookies/cake, candle and everything else one need for a perfect christmas. And I decided that there is no better way to start a good christmas tradition than by making peanut butter balls.

First I found the ingredients:
50 g butter
250 g peanut butter
500 g confectionary sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Then all you have to do is mix everything, do not, NOT, melt the butter, you are supposed to kneed everything together. Till it looks like the picture below.

Then you have to pinch balls together, just take a bit in your hand and squeeze until it is a firm ball. Like so.

Put your balls to rest in the fridge or freezer until hard. Then carefully insert a toothpick till it is stuck.
Melt a lot of chocolate, probably around 300 g, in a double boiler. Add about 60 g of paraffin wax (the kind you buy at a grocery store, I know it very well exists a lot of places :p). When the chocolate/wax mix is melted, dip the peanut butter balls in the mix, cover entirely.

For a better result, hold one peanut butter ball on a stick in one hand, while dipping with the other to allow the first one to cool, almost, completely. Place on a sheet of baking paper.

Carefully pull the toothpick out after a little while, while everything is a bit soft. Then put store in a cool place in some sort of container. I made some cute paper containers which I will show soon.

I seem to forget that I have a blog. I have some crafty projects that are done, but havent been able to take the pictures just yet, will nag Johnny to do so when he comes home. As for my life, I (and Johnny) have moved to a new apartment just before easter, 2nd of April. When we said yes to it, and got here to view again and got the keys and such, I regretted getting this apartment… It was ugly, cold and needed fixing… On the plus side, the apartment has a wood stove, a storage room in the hallway (behind a little door). And a big basement for storage, it also has a medium sized freezer down there. 

But now… It is cute and cool. We painted almost every surface of the apartment. The first hallway was in this strange wood panel, now white. The second hallway was dark blue, now white after three (!) coats of paint. The living room was a mix of whitish and pastel purple… It is also white :) The kitchen was peachy colored or more like prison color… But that too is white. The bedroom was unpainted, dark wood panel. And after three coats of paint that too is white. I love white walls :) The bathroom is pastel blue and will stay that way, the toilet was white so there was no need for painting in there. Yes, we have a strange toilet, it is just a toilet in there, no sink, no washing whatsoever. 

Also, we have removed three (!) doors in the apartment that just were not necessary. We bought a new fridge (with a small freezer). Got some new lamps and tables. I finally got a tall bar table, in my kitchen :)

The apartments standards has risen quite a lot since Johnny and I moved in here. Unfortunately… We are going to move in the fall. Turns out, where Johnny work, has had some changes, and it is no longer necessary for a registry for domains in Norway any longer (the company is really swedish). But, Johnny got a good job offer in Stockholm, Sweden. He will become a team leader for two teams :)

So, we put a lot of work into an apartment that we will only be staying in for four months :( Oh well, I really look forward moving to Stockholm. I will take a break in my studies, read upon a couple of subjects that I failed. Johnny´s job has offered to help us find an apartment in Stockholm and find a job to me :)

In the previous weekend, my sisters and dog came over for sleepover. It was nice, we made yummy dinners and had a good time. On saturday we went on a small shopping, more like they bought stuff I am quite poor right now. Then my oldest baby sister went on the train back home to her so her boyfriend who had been gone for ten days. My youngest sister Sunniva and I went back to the apartment and got out the dog, Kira, and went for a long walk down to the fjord. Kira took a bath while Sunniva and I had some ice cream :)

After that we went home and painted some. I made a cute, pink, heart painting. It turned out nice :) Sunniva painted some buttons and needle felted a penguin, with some of my help. Later we made dinner with Johnny and watched X-men :) On sunday, Johnny and I went for a walk with Kira while Sunniva showered and when we got back we showered while Sunniva made breakfast for all of us. After that Sunniva and I started making candles. Striped candles. They turned out awesome ! Pictures will come later.

Then my mom came here, and stayed for dinner and took Sunniva and Kira with her home. 

This week has not been that eventful. Except for yesterday, then we had dinner guests. We made indian and it was good.

Today I will try to get more school stuff done…

Tomorrow we leave for Skien/Porsgrunn for Johnny´s baby sisters confirmation (? When you are 14-15 in Norway there is this ritual to show that you are now an “adult”…).

Since my last blog about something crafty (which was several months ago, it kind of gets on and off this blogging thing) I have made several things. I will post pictures and such soon (or at least eventually). But to mention a few things, two good dresses, a skirt, hand warmers, mittens, laptop case for my boyfriend (with pacman :) and then I have been scrapping. I have really gotten into this scrapping now, what I have made now looks a lot better than previously. I am still new to scrapping, so improvements will always be there.

As for my life, my boyfriend and I are moving soon, do not know where yet, but we have put an ad in the news paper and hoping for reply this weekend. Yesterday we went on something we call “Harry tur” in Norwegian. It is basically a trip to Sweden where we buy cheap beer (although good beer, it is just that beer cost almost half in Sweden than what is costs in Norway), chicken and candy. We had about 11 liters of beer with us home :) (There are restrictions on how much you are allowed to have with you… 5 liters is the limit per person) And we bought one of my favorite chocolatesPolly

But now I am going scrapping :)

I like purple, so my felted laptop case is mainly in purple with semi white apples. It is knitted on very big needles… Pictures below :)

It is lined with ordinary cotton fabrick, and a long zipper (no need for fancy zipper with exact measurements, as it was very hard finding a 92 cm long zipper, I bough a meter from a big roll of zipper band). It was a bit hard to sew on the fabrick and the zipper at the top of my case, because the felted bit was very thick there…

But overall I am pretty happy with this one. Of course it look homemade with some mistakes here and there, but it suits my needs and look ok :)

A while later I got a note in my mail saying there was a package to pick up from this company. Happily I went to the post office and picked it up. This is what I receieved.

So I actually got five tubes of various cheese, a box of cheese and some crispbread or rye crisp.

On the 10th of June I actually went home to my parents, I have not been there since in February ( they have visited me though). It was nice, I participated in my baby sisters last day in scouting for the season. I visited my grandmother and finished my felted laptop case. It turned out nicely (by the way, I will post a blog about that thing later). I walked a lot of trips with our family dog, Kira.

I got a job for the summer, I am cleaning the train station and some other offices. I don’t start that job until 14th of July. But seeing as I don’t get scholarship money in either June or July, I needed more work. Which I got from the hospital, as the same job I already got there, but at another place, actually four places.

The last weekend and week, Johnny and I have been taking care of Kira. She is a sweet dog.

Other than that, I don’t think it is much more interesting to say. Or more of, I’m tired of writing :p
